Dear Parents and Carers,

This summer term is going by really quickly and I wanted to take this chance to update you on what is happening in school.

Inspection of Church Schools
As you are aware we were visited by Kerry Palmer earlier this half term, he carried out our denominational inspection under section 48 of the Education Act. He was very positive about our school and impressed with the children who shared their work with him and made him feel very welcome. I am sending out a copy of his report with this letter so that you can read his comments. The report is also available on the school website www.norwellandstmatthews.co.uk

You will all have the chance to come into school next half term, for sports day, special services and there will also be the chance to appear in the school’s filming of the Norwell community that is scheduled for the second week after the holiday!

Camping and Hill Top
There is the chance for many children to experience a school residential next term which will be a really good opportunity for them. We have held an information evening for parents of children going to Hill Top and Gary Richards will lead a session for parents to give details of the camping trip. The meeting is set for 4 pm on 4th June here at Norwell.

Sports Funding
We have been using our sports grant well and children have received coaching in orienteering and cricket this term. The children in both Key Stages excelled at the orienteering and the feedback from the coach was really positive so we hope to do more of this in the future.

Displays
We are in the process of capturing our work in school through updated displays so please call in next half term and see what has been happening in school. The Rainbow Room is now in full use and we have plans to develop our outside area, staff are happy to share our plans with you so please call in and talk to us.

Music
Should your child wish to continue with music lessons in Autumn 2015 or if any new year 3’s in September wish to learn an instrument, please reply to the forms sent out yesterday.

INSET
A reminder that the school closes today, May 22nd, and reopens on Tuesday 2nd June. We are closed on Monday 1st June for an INSET day.

I hope you all have a fabulous break and we look forward to welcoming the children back after the holiday.

Best Wishes,
Diane Ward
