Throughout this year the children at Norwell Church of England Primary School have been growing a variety of produce on our school allotment.

This week some of our year 6 children went to pick fruit and vegetables to take to St Laurence Church for their Harvest Festival.

At the service our Huckleberries performed a lovely version of ‘Big Red Combine Harvester’, the Navigators recited the poem ‘Harvest Time’ and the Innovators reminded us of the importance of giving thanks and sharing with others – especially at harvest time.

The Children of St. Matthews Church of England Primary School also celebrated Harvest Festival with their families in Church last week. The children in KS2 performed a short harvest play to express the importance of harvest, children in KS1 shared what they were ‘thankful for’ and the children in the Early Years displayed their amazing vegetable print paintings.

We are so grateful for all your generous donations of food.  All fresh produce from Norwell will be taken to Beaumont House, with tinned and wrapped goods going to their local food bank.  Donations from St Matthews have been donated to a local food bank to be shared among families who are finding the economic situation at the moment very challenging.

A big thank you to everyone who donated and to all the children who made the Harvest celebrations so special.
