Year 3 and 4 children from Norwell Church of England Primary School have been enjoying weekly visits to forest school this half term.  The sessions have incorporated learning about the natural environment, with a mix of outdoor games and challenges.  The children have had the opportunity to light fires using a flint and steel, whittle sticks, weave decorations for waking sticks and learn crafts including crafting with clay and finger knitting.  During the sessions we have made our own hot chocolate, and tried a variety of camp fire cooking including pizza wraps and banana boats.  Their final challenge was to make an emergency stretcher out of basic materials to help transport an injured person out of the forest.  Children from St. Matthews will get the chance to develop their skills later in the year in their own dedicated forest school area.
