Dear Parents and Carers,

As you are probably aware it is World Book Day on Thursday 5th March. At both Norwell and St. Matthew’s we want to take the chance to share the pleasure of telling stories and reading books. We are planning to spend the afternoon together and all adults in school are preparing a short story telling session to share with groups of children. Everyone will get to attend two sessions across the afternoon.

The children at Norwell will leave school at 1 pm and travel by coach to Normanton On Trent to spend the afternoon at St. Matthew’s, they will return in time to be collected at the end of the school day. This is a really good chance for the children and adults to work together again and we are really looking forward to an enjoyable and entertaining afternoon!

If any of you have a favourite story you would like to share with a group of children please come in and speak to a member of staff, you are very welcome to join us for the afternoon.

As a part of our World Book Day preparations we would also like to launch our “Catch someone reading” – competition. We would like children to bring in a photograph of themselves being caught reading in unusual and quirky places – be creative!

Thank you for your continued support,

Diane Ward
