Learning about democracy.

   

This morning, we were delighted to welcome Malcolm Smith – Senior Education and Engagement officer (East Midlands) from the UK Parliament. He delivered a fantastic assembly teaching all our Key Stage 2 children how our parliament works, covering everything from how we elect our MP’s, to the roles of the House of Commons and House of Lords in creating and agreeing new laws.

The children asked some really insightful questions and were really engaged in understanding how our country is run, and the new laws that might impact them.  We will build on this further in class where we are covering how we can all make and impact change in the world.
